This is one of my favourite drills from improving hockey acceleration. I like this one because it doesn’t require any equipment, and it’s fun to do with a partner.

Measure out 5 yards and start in a kneeling position, pop up without using your hands and then sprint as fast as you can to the 5 yard mark. Remember we are just working on acceleration, so give it all you have right from the start.

To make this a competitive drill you can do it with a friend, have another friend blow a whistle and see who can get up and run to the 5 yard mark the fastest. Work on starting on your left leg, and right leg.
